the drum’s circular form symbolizes the universe. it’s constant beat represents the heart pulsing at the center of the universe; it symbolizes the earth, whose heartbeat is a sign of vitality.

the big mother drum is at the center of the circle drum ritual. as a meeting place, the mother drum provides grounding, clarity and concentration to the rhythmical movement of the group.
